Spring is well and truly here at and  the garden is full of colour and new plants are in the tubs and beds at Flornorvan.

On Saturday after the guests had left we visited Quatt nursery and selected a whole range of plants to add that extra bit of colur and softness to the garden after what has seemed to be such a long winter.

The apple tree is full of blossom, the magnolia is in flower and hanging baskets adorn the rear patio, I guess the next job is to mow the lawns and trim back some of the hedges.

Are you visiting  Royal Air Force Cosford’s 75th Anniversary Air Show  on Sunday 9th 2013 and need accommodation?

The 2013 Air Show brings together a wide variety of aircraft including the Royal Air Force, aerobatic displays, vintage aircraft and many more. With so many new things to see and do, you can be sure there is something to entertain the whole family. Enjoy expanded interactive aircraft and military displays, arena demonstrations, visit the fair ground, shop for craft and memorabilia or visit the RAF museum where entry is included. In 2013 the show will celebrate three important Anniversaries: The 75th Anniversary of Royal Air Force Cosford, the 75th Anniversary of the Spitfire entering RAF service and 40 years of RAF service from the Jaguar jet aircraft.

Bridgnorth, in reality, is two towns: the High Town  with good views down and the Low Town you guessed it, with good views up.the High and Low towns are connected   by the steepest inland funicular railway in Britain.

The Low Town was once a thriving port along the banks of the River Severn, while the High Town held the castle, the churches, and many fine 16th and 17th century mansions. Charles I, lost his head here completely, declaring the view to be – “the finest in all my kingdom.”

The more energetic amongst you can amble up one of the seven sets of steps, or the steep old Cartway, where goods were once hauled to the market above. The carts are gone, but the markets remain. Antiques and local produce are particular specialities.

By the time you reach the top, you’ll probably need a sit down – and where better than the Castle Gardens?

What’s left of the Castle leans at an alarming angle, even greater than the Tower of Pisa. The building was blown up in the Civil War by the parliamentarians – who botched it, as parliamentarians are wont to do.

Nearby an iron footbridge takes you to the Severn Valley Railway Station. If you want to explore the beautiful Severn Gorge to the south, you should definitely let the steam train take the strain. And you can enjoy wonderful 1940′s and 1960′s steam nostalgia weekends.

Kidderminster is well served by road and rail links and for those wanting to do some sight seeing then the Severn Valley railway is a must with wonderful steam  hauled trains through the Severn valley to Bridgnorth. With stations to get off at Bewdley, Highley, Arley and Bridgnorth there is lots to see and explore.

Close to the centre of kidderminster are The Wyre Forest and its surrounding woodlands which are fantastic places to enjoy the fresh air and and have fun outdoors. There is something for everyone all year round, from walking and family cycling  to enjoying the tree top thrills of “Go Ape”.

So take a visit to Kidderminster and stay at Flornorvan and enjoy good hospitality and great scenery as well as eating at some really good local restaurants and pubs.
